The CII–Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) will host the 24th Green Building Congress (GBC) 2026 from 26–28 November at the Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai, bringing together government, industry, finance, academia and global sustainability leaders to accelerate the adoption of green and net zero solutions.
Themed “Forging a Sustainable Future – Do Good, Feel Good. Building Greener Worlds Together,” the three-day event will focus on the transition from individual green buildings towards net zero buildings, resilient infrastructure and sustainable cities.
IGBC said India now has 20,000+ registered green building projects, covering 16.33 billion sq. ft. of green building footprint. Over the past 25 years, the council has promoted energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, renewable energy, responsible materials, circularity, carbon reduction and climate resilience across the built environment.
C Shekar Reddy, National Chairman, CII–IGBC, said, “The question before us is not whether we should build, but how responsibly we can build. Sustainability must move from being a specialised conversation among experts to becoming a fundamental part of every development decision.”
IGBC’s Mission on Net Zero, launched in 2021, focuses on Net Zero Energy, Water, Waste and Carbon. More than 350 organisations in the building sector have committed to achieving Net Zero status for their new and existing buildings. GBC 2026 will examine how policy, finance, technology and industry collaboration can help translate these commitments into implementation and scale.
AR Unnikrishnan, National Vice Chairman, CII–IGBC, said the next phase of India’s green building journey must move “from commitment to scale”, requiring stronger collaboration between industry, government, finance, technology and academia.
The congress will also connect India’s green building ecosystem with the global movement through the World Green Building Council and its 85 member Green Building Councils, alongside international delegations and sustainability experts. Discussions will cover Net Zero, green finance, circularity, carbon management and climate resilience.
The 2026 edition is expected to attract 3,000+ delegates, 10,000+ business visitors, 150+ thought leaders and 100+ institutional and industry partners, alongside a Green Building Expo. Last year’s edition recorded more than 1,000 B2B meetings and 8,000 delegates and visitors.
