HYDRAA Reclaims 2,100 Square Yards of Parkland at Nandi Hills Colony

HYDRAA has reclaimed 2,100 square yards of parkland at Nandi Hills Colony in Meerpet Municipality in Balapur mandal of Rangareddy district after officials completed a ground level inspection and record verification. The agency scrutinised land records and found that portions of the plot reserved for community use had been unlawfully occupied. The action followed a complaint lodged by residents through the Prajavani grievance platform. Officials examined the ownership history and ensured procedural steps were recorded to restore the land's public status.

Complainants alleged that individuals had produced fake layouts and illegally numbered plots to give the appearance of private division of common land, and they reported that the occupation impeded access to open space intended for the neighbourhood. HYDRAA responded by conducting a field inspection that included physical verification of boundaries and cross checking with official documentation. The inquiry determined that encroachments had indeed taken place on the designated parkland.

Following confirmation, the agency took immediate steps to clear the encroachments and fully reclaimed the 2,100 square yards, restoring the land for public use and community activities. Municipal authorities were informed of the recovery and the reclaimed area was returned to the register of lands reserved for public purposes. Residents expressed appreciation for the intervention and noted that the outcome underscored the importance of vigilant local oversight.

The case highlights the role of grievance mechanisms in enabling citizens to seek redress and the importance of timely administrative action to protect common assets. HYDRAA indicated that it will continue monitoring vulnerable stretches of reserved land and coordinating with municipal offices to prevent reoccurrence. Authorities urged residents to report future concerns promptly to enable rapid administrative response and sustained protection of community assets. The reclamation has been recorded as part of ongoing efforts to protect parks and open spaces for community benefit.
