IFC, GBPN, Smarter Dharma Launch Green Materials Platform

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), Global Buildings Performance Network (GBPN) and Smarter Dharma have collaborated to launch the Marketplace for Green Equipment and Materials (MGEM), a digital platform aimed at improving access to verified sustainable construction materials in India.

The platform is designed to help builders, developers and contractors discover, compare and verify green materials through structured data on performance, cost transparency and local availability. The initiative aims to address the growing demand for sustainable construction as development expands across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

MGEM is a multilingual and location-aware platform that also integrates with Housing Finance Companies to enable faster validation of green eligibility and smoother access to green finance, linking procurement decisions with financing pathways.

Smarter Dharma is responsible for the platform’s technology architecture and execution, while GBPN is leading institutional engagement and policy alignment.

Sriram Kuchimanchi, Founder and CEO, Smarter Dharma, said the platform is designed to improve access to trusted, low-impact materials and support decarbonisation in India’s building sector.

The pilot phase will be launched across 12 cities in three states, with plans for a nationwide rollout by the end of the year.
