Nashik adds stricter tree-plantation clause

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has created a new policy for real estate developers who are working on projects in the city. The initiative aims to increase the city's green cover.

The new policy requires developers to plant trees equal to the age of the trees they cut down on the construction site. For example, if a developer cuts down a 20-year-old tree, he must plant 20 saplings, some on the same property and the rest at a location designated by the civic body.

Furthermore, the developers must maintain these trees for a period of seven years.
