SOBHA Group, through the Sri Kurumba Educational and Charitable Trust, has delivered 120 homes under Phase III of its Griha SOBHA initiative for women-led families. With this, a total of 350 homes have been handed over since the programme’s inception.

Launched in 2022, the initiative aims to provide 1,000 free homes to economically vulnerable women-headed households by 2030. Each unit is a 700 sq ft 2 BHK home designed with a focus on durability, safety and long-term usability.

The homes were handed over at a ceremony attended by the Governor of Kerala, Sri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, along with senior representatives of SOBHA Limited and the Trust.

Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Governor of Kerala, Sri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, said, “Everybody’s life has a purpose,” emphasizing that the true purpose of life is to share our fortune and earnings with others for the welfare of society.

Mr. P.N.C. Menon, Founder of SOBHA Group, added, “GrihaSOBHA has been designed as a long-term effort to address the lack of secure housing among resource-limited women-led families, particularly in rural communities where this need is most acute. For us, this is not about building homes at scale, but about building them right — with ownership, quality, and permanence. We place strong emphasis on ensuring that each home is constructed to the same standards of durability and design that define SOBHA’s work, while also enabling ownership in the hands of women, which creates long-term security for the family. Our effort is to ensure that every home we deliver provides stability, dignity, and a stronger foundation for families to build their future with confidence.”

In addition to housing, the Trust has undertaken community initiatives including construction of an anganwadi building with a capital expenditure of Rs 8.2 million, restoration of the Idukavu pond with Rs 2.1 million investment, and launch of a dialysis support programme for 75 patients.

The programme follows a structured beneficiary selection process and continues to focus on housing, healthcare, education and social welfare across rural Kerala.
