Tata’s Indian Hotels to Invest Rs 25 Billion in Taj Bandstand Project

Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), part of the Tata Group, has announced a Rs 25 billion investment to develop a new luxury property in Mumbai. The 330-room hotel will be built on a two-acre plot in Bandra, formerly home to the iconic Sea Rock Hotel, which was demolished after IHCL acquired it for Rs 6.8 billion.

Named Taj Bandstand, the project had its groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Tata Sons Chairman N. Chandrasekaran. The development will feature 85 serviced apartments, multiple dining options, convention spaces, landscaped gardens, and recreational facilities.

Located opposite Taj Lands End, another IHCL property, the new hotel will enhance Mumbai’s luxury hospitality landscape. The Sea Rock Hotel, once famous for its glamorous parties and Mumbai’s only revolving rooftop restaurant, was among the sites targeted in the 1993 serial blasts.
