Dixon-Longcheer JV Approved To Boost Smart Device Output

Dixon Technologies has secured approval from the Indian government to form a joint venture with Chinese electronics company Longcheer, further reinforcing its position in India’s growing smartphone and smart device manufacturing sector.
As per a regulatory filing dated 24 July, the joint venture will be set up in partnership with Longcheer’s Singapore-based subsidiary. Dixon will hold a 74 per cent stake, while Longcheer will own the remaining 26 per cent.
Once definitive agreements are finalised, the new entity, named Dixtel Infocomm, will focus on manufacturing and supplying smartphones, tablets, true wireless stereo (TWS) devices, smartwatches, AI-powered PCs, automotive electronics, and healthcare devices.
The joint venture is expected to significantly enhance Dixon’s Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) capabilities in India, and support the localisation of non-semiconductor sub-components — an essential step towards strengthening the domestic electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
Longcheer is a key player in the global electronics supply chain, known for both product design and manufacturing, and has worked with brands such as Vivo, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Samsung.
This partnership is part of Dixon’s broader strategy to collaborate with Chinese component and device manufacturers. The company has recently signed agreements with Chongqing Yuhai Precision Manufacturing Co Ltd and the Indian arm of Kunshan Q Technology for local component production. Additionally, a separate joint venture with Chinese smartphone maker Vivo is also underway.
