GIFT City Becomes Flagbearer Of India's Smart Infrastructure Vision
Planners have built an advanced underground utility tunnel network that integrates electricity, water supply, high speed internet and district cooling systems to enable uninterrupted services and enhance sustainability. The master plan incorporates an integrated utility framework in which essential services are housed within a single tunnel system so that future maintenance or expansion can proceed without disruptive road excavation. A centralised command and control centre forms the operational core, providing real time monitoring and management of key urban services across the precinct.
Operational protocols require all buildings to be connected to the centralised platform prior to issuance of occupancy certificates, enabling continuous oversight of utilities and rapid response to incidents. Engineering leadership at the development has emphasised adherence to global benchmarks in quality and efficiency and described the platform as essential to long term reliability. The systems are intended to reduce downtime, streamline maintenance and support scalable growth as the mixed use district expands its footprint.
The financial ecosystem within the precinct now hosts multinational firms including Bank of America, KPMG and Infibeam Avenues, which have expanded operations within the hub. In education, Deakin University has established an international campus following a 2023 announcement and officials attribute the campus realisation to coordinated efforts by the Gujarat government, the Government of India and the Australian government. With its blend of smart infrastructure, global business presence and international education partnerships, GIFT City is positioned as a blueprint for India urban development and a focal point for future investment and innovation.
