Grab Holdings has acquired Infermove, a Chinese artificial intelligence robotics firm, in a move aimed at strengthening automated first- and last-mile delivery capabilities across its logistics network. The acquisition, announced in December, marks Grab’s entry into embodied AI robotics as part of its broader automation strategy.
Founded in 2021, Infermove specialises in autonomous driving systems for unstructured environments and mobile manipulation robots, including sidewalk delivery robots. The company leverages real-world driving data from non-motorised vehicles to train robots capable of operating in complex last-mile scenarios, addressing industry challenges related to data availability and scalability.
Infermove has progressed rapidly from research and development to commercial deployment, partnering with major delivery platforms in China and piloting projects in overseas markets including Singapore, Japan and Australia. The company reported strong revenue growth over the past three years, supported by rising order volumes and expanding deployments.
Following the acquisition, Infermove will continue to operate independently under its existing leadership, reporting into Grab’s global technology organisation. The move reflects Grab’s focus on automation and AI-led innovation to improve efficiency, reliability and cost control amid growing demand for on-demand delivery services across Southeast Asia.
