The Maharashtra settlement commissioner's office has concluded a drone survey of residential land parcels in 12,084 villages, providing citizens with access to the details on the revenue department's website. A senior official from the state settlement commissioner's office announced that 18.66 lakh property cards for rural residential land parcels have already been uploaded, with the remaining 50 lakh expected to be completed by 2025.

Initiated three years ago, the drone survey covered nearly 37,000 villages and aimed to establish boundaries for rural, private, government, and semi-government properties, as well as identify the locations of roads and canals. The official mentioned that approximately 19,000 villages are still pending coverage.

In contrast to the previous manual mapping process, the senior official from the settlement commissioner's office highlighted the transformative impact of drone technology on the surveying method. Property cards for the surveyed areas are now accessible on the state government's Bhumi Abhilekh website, allowing citizens to download them for a fee.

The official emphasized that, in addition to property names and details, essential information related to sale deeds is also included in the uploaded data.
