TuTr Hyperloop Private Limited has partnered with BEML to advance the development of hyperloop systems—next-generation transport technology capable of moving people and goods at speeds comparable to air travel.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Lingaraj V. Viraktamath, Head of Corporate Technology Planning & Alliance Management at BEML, and Aravind S. Bharadwaj, Director & CEO of TuTr Hyperloop.

As per the agreement, BEML will serve as the principal manufacturing partner to build prototype pods designed for high-velocity travel. These pods, which will be capable of carrying both passengers and cargo, are intended to demonstrate the commercial viability of hyperloop systems in India.

“This partnership is a step forward for India’s efforts in high-speed transportation,” said Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director, BEML. “It aligns with the goals of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Atmanirbhar Bharat by supporting transport systems built with Indian engineering and manufacturing,” he added.

Hyperloop, a concept first introduced by Elon Musk in 2013, uses magnetic levitation and electric propulsion to move pods through low-pressure tubes. While several global entities are experimenting with the technology, it remains in the pilot phase due to challenges related to infrastructure, regulatory approvals, safety, and large-scale deployment costs.

With this collaboration, India aims to emerge as a key player in the global hyperloop race by leveraging local engineering expertise and strategic manufacturing capabilities.
