ABB Expands Karnataka Manufacturing Footprint
ABB's Motion business will expand the Peenya campus with two new manufacturing facilities spanning 6,100 sq m and expected to accommodate up to 300 employees once operational. The site will produce energy efficient motors including flameproof Ex designs, roller table variants and large smoke ventilation models, as well as low-voltage drives and programmable logic controllers, and will host a service and training centre with digital tools and remote diagnostics. The company reported its motors and drives installed over the past 12 years have delivered annual energy savings of about 20 TWh.
Nelamangala Campus 2 is a 16,470 sq m multi-business manufacturing hub expanding production for Electrification and Automation and supporting smart power technologies, system interface units, gas analyser integration, service labs and blending operations. Manufacturing will include excitation systems and high-power rectifiers and will scale production of power management solutions for data centres nearly tenfold. The campus will support Make in India innovations for lubrication, paint, paper and pulp industries and will supply systems for export across the region.
ABB announced an investment of USD 75 million (mn) in 2026 to expand manufacturing and research and development and to create over 300 new skilled jobs, adding to a 2025 spend of over USD 35 mn. The company said these investments will strengthen Karnataka's industrial ecosystem, develop specialised skills and support supplier networks while enabling more sustainable and resource efficient industrial growth. ABB noted a history of more than 140 years and a global workforce of around 110,000.
