ABB India has introduced the ACS380-E, a next-generation machinery drive designed to simplify machine integration, enhance automation performance and support India’s accelerating shift toward digitalised and Industry 4.0–ready manufacturing. The new drive joins ABB’s all-compatible portfolio and is positioned to meet the needs of machine builders seeking higher connectivity, flexibility and cybersecurity.
With industries rapidly adopting smart-factory solutions to improve efficiency, quality and operational reliability, the ACS380-E has been engineered as a future-proof platform. It offers advanced digital connectivity, streamlined commissioning and embedded cybersecurity features aimed at ensuring uptime and compliance with evolving regulatory standards.
“As the Indian industrial landscape evolves with advanced automation and the rising need for energy efficiency, it is crucial for variable speed drives to adapt effortlessly to diverse industrial applications,” said AR Madhusudan, President and Local Division Manager, Drive Products, ABB India. He added that the ACS380-E equips customers to build high-performance machines with robust cybersecurity capabilities.
Developed for machinery applications across industries such as textiles, cable and wire, plastics and intralogistics, the drive is designed to reduce setup time for commissioning, installation and wiring. It features dual embedded Ethernet ports with selectable protocols as standard, eliminating the need for additional option modules and reducing installation complexity.
The drive also supports USB-C commissioning and offers firmware updates via Ethernet, ensuring that cybersecurity enhancements can be implemented quickly and consistently.
Supporting all common rotary motor types across global voltage ranges from 100 V to 600 V, the ACS380-E provides precise motor control for systems including conveyors, packaging lines, extrusion units and multi-axis machinery. Its compact build enables easy integration into tight cabinet spaces, and it connects seamlessly with major automation systems, including ABB’s AC500 PLC.
Enhanced by ABB’s Drive Composer software, including the new Drive Composer 3, the drive enables efficient monitoring, adaptive programming and rapid offline configuration.
The ACS380-E is now available in India with ratings up to 22 kW, 400 V, and was launched at ENGIMACH 2025 in Gandhinagar, held from December 3 to 7.
