AP to get 17 new fire stations, Centre allocates Rs.2.5 billion

Andhra Pradesh will set up 17 new fire stations, including six in North Andhra, with Rs.2.5 billion support from the Centre. Locations like Yendada, Araku, and IT SEZ zones are identified for new stations. While funds cover infrastructure and engines, experts warn operations may stall unless the state appoints over 15 personnel per station. The state currently has 190 fire stations, unevenly distributed, with industrial and forested regions like Paravada, Achuthapuram, and ASR facing critical gaps. Officials stress urgent staffing to ensure functional emergency services.
