The Assam government has called on Central agencies and stakeholders to expedite the resolution of pending issues to fast-track various infrastructure and development projects in the state.

Chief Secretary Ravi Kota chaired the 10th Monthly Review Meeting, held in hybrid mode, to assess the progress of Government of India projects across multiple districts. The review covered matters ranging from highway crossings and defence land use to airport-related developments.

Highway crossing clearances in Barpeta, Nagaon, Cachar, and Bongaigaon — vital for the timely completion of substations and distribution lines — were prioritised. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), concerned district commissioners (DCs), and the Power Department were directed to accelerate groundwork.

The Guwahati Ring Road Project has been accorded top priority, with the DCs of Kamrup Metropolitan, Kamrup, and Darrang instructed to assign three Competent Authority for Land Acquisition officers solely for the project, working closely with circle officers to resolve issues on the ground.

DCs of Lakhimpur, Tinsukia, Sonitpur, Jorhat, and Dibrugarh were told to coordinate with Northeast Frontier Railway to ensure smooth execution of 10 sanctioned level crossings slated for conversion into overbridges or underpasses. The Tinsukia DC will monitor the Amrit Bharat station platform project and address unauthorised encroachments on railway land.

Under the Samridh Gram Panchayat Pilot Project of Digital Bharat Nidhi, BSNL will provide fibre-to-the-home connectivity to five private institutions in each of the 95 selected gram panchayats across 23 districts. DCs were instructed to form Gram Panchayat Digital Access Committees and coordinate with the Department of Telecommunications and BSNL for implementation.

In Kharupetia, Darrang district, the DC will assess land currently used by the Army as a transit camp and submit an ‘as-is-where-is’ report to the Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management.

Progress was also noted on the Detailed Project Report for Doloo Airport in Cachar, with preliminary cost estimates completed and land handover to be expedited. For the six-lane approach road to the upcoming Guwahati International Airport Terminal, seamless coordination has been directed among the DC Kamrup Metro, Public Works Department, Guwahati International Airport Ltd (GIAL), and the executing agency. Matters related to the Airports Authority of India will be overseen by the Principal Secretary, Transport.

“All concerned departments and agencies have been advised to ensure focused follow-up and timely resolution of pending issues to fast-track implementation,” Kota said.
