Avaada Electro Commissions First Three GW Line in Nagpur

Avaada Electro has commissioned the first three gigawatt (GW) production line at its six gigawatt (GW) TOPCon solar cell facility near Nagpur. The company stated the line is now operational and will form the initial phase of the larger manufacturing hub. The move marks a milestone in domestic high efficiency cell manufacturing.

TOPCon, or tunnel oxide passivated contact, is presented as a pathway to higher conversion efficiency and improved long term performance for crystalline silicon cells. The facility has been designed to adopt advanced production techniques and automation to sustain consistent output quality. Company materials say scaling of such technology in India will support the local solar ecosystem.

The company said the commissioning will strengthen domestic cell supply and reduce dependence on imports for critical components. The plant is positioned to supply upstream manufacturers of modules and is intended to enable closer integration with module assembly lines in the region. Company comments emphasise the role of local manufacturing in cost competitiveness and supply security.

Completion of the remaining capacity to reach six gigawatt (GW) is described as the next phase and will follow commissioning schedules already set by the developer. The expansion is intended to align with broader policy efforts to boost renewable manufacturing capability in the country. The project is presented as a test case for scaling advanced cell technologies at industrial scale.

The company said the facility will stimulate ancillary industries and create skilled manufacturing roles while fostering partnerships with equipment suppliers, testing laboratories and logistics providers across the region. Operational ramp up will focus on yield improvement, quality assurance and lifecycle testing to ensure cells meet specifications for long term field performance, according to company information. Company information states that such large scale manufacturing capacity will contribute to national renewable energy targets and provide a template for future private sector investment in advanced solar technologies.
