Azad Engineering Opens Dedicated Lean Facility For Baker Hughes

Azad Engineering inaugurated a 7,600 sq. m. lean manufacturing facility at its centre of excellence in Tunikibollaram, Hyderabad to support Baker Hughes and align with global manufacturing standards. The plant is configured for high-precision, high-volume production for Industrial and Energy Technology programmes and is integrated with Azad's COE and innovation centre. The move was described as a strategic step in the company's eight-year collaboration with Baker Hughes that began in 2018.

The partnership began by supplying critical rotating airfoils for gas and steam turbine finish stages and evolved through a stringent global qualification pathway. Azad completed multi-grade material qualifications, complex process validations and product-level approvals, and developed a certified sub-tier network for specialised processes. These steps enabled the company to meet demanding technical benchmarks and scale production.

Through vertical integration, advanced quality systems and disciplined execution, Azad established processes able to deliver components with tolerances measured in microns. The new facility employs around 230 skilled professionals and contains equipment and process flows engineered for productivity excellence. It also forms part of Baker Hughes' Oilfield Services and Equipment programme within the global supply chain.

Telangana industry leaders welcomed the investment and framed the inauguration as an endorsement of Make in India and Make in Telangana, noting that the precision engineering sector grew 30 per cent year-on-year and exports rose 103 per cent last year, supported by over 1,500 MSMEs and repeat investments from global OEMs. Baker Hughes said the expansion strengthens its global supply chain and supports long-term growth. Azad's leadership characterised the facility as the result of disciplined investment across the manufacturing ecosystem.

This is Azad Engineering's fourth dedicated facility and reflects an aggressive capacity build-out to meet rising global demand across aerospace, defence, energy and oil and gas sectors. The company positioned the inauguration as a statement of intent to shape global precision manufacturing. Established in 2008, Azad serves as a Tier One supplier to leading original equipment manufacturers across 17 countries and aims to leverage the new facility to expand delivery capabilities.
