Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has awarded a Rs 55.48 crore (Rs 554.8 million (mn)) contract to Milan Road Buildtech LLP for civil and structural works to install a travellator and a connecting walkway at Central Silk Board. The contract covers design, construction and structural interfaces required to link the two adjacent metro stations. BMRCL authorised the award as part of procurement for infrastructure works on the Phase-2A project. The procurement followed BMRCL's standard tendering and evaluation procedures.

The project will connect the Yellow Line Central Silk Board station with the Blue Line ORR Central Silk Board station, providing a direct, grade separated interchange between the two corridors. The alignment and structural provisions form part of the wider Bengaluru Metro Phase-2A programme and were included in the tender documents. Work packages specify coordination with existing elevated structures and utility relocation where necessary.

Milan Road Buildtech LLP is responsible for delivery of civil and structural elements, including foundations, support structures and the covered travellator installation, as set out in the contract. The scope also includes associated finishing works, drainage interfaces and access provisions for passengers and maintenance teams. BMRCL will manage contract supervision and quality assurance through its engineering and project controls teams. Contract documents require adherence to performance standards, safety compliance and maintenance obligations during the defects liability period.

The award represents a targeted investment in interchange infrastructure to improve passenger movement between lines and support network integration. BMRCL issued the contract award on 18 August 2026 and procurement notices indicate this forms part of several parallel tenders for Phase-2A.
