Bhel Secures Rs 135 bn NTPC Order For Telangana Project
The scope includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, commissioning and testing of boiler, turbine and generator (BTG) systems together with associated civil and structural works. The contract was awarded following an international competitive bidding process after Bhel emerged as the successful bidder in October 2024 and received a limited notice to proceed in November 2024 to commence basic engineering. The formal award confirms Bhel’s role for delivery of the project.
The project is scheduled for completion within 62 months from the date of award and will proceed under the timelines established in the contract. Bhel clarified that although both parties are central public sector enterprises the agreement does not constitute a related party transaction. The deployment of supercritical technology is intended to improve thermal efficiency and support reliable baseload generation.
In a separate development the company reported winning an order from Hindalco Industries valued at Rs 12–15 bn for the Aditya Expansion Project Phase II in Sambalpur district. On the stock market Bhel shares were down zero point seven eight per cent at Rs 252.85 in midday trade. The stock has gained nearly 20 per cent over the past 12 months. Analysts will monitor execution timelines closely.
