Bhubaneswar, one of the fastest-growing cities in India, is scheduled to begin the second phase of Land Records Computerization (LRC) distribution on October 31. This initiative aims to provide landowners with digitized records and streamline the process of land registration.

With the LRC system, citizens can easily access their property records electronically, reducing the need for physical paperwork and ensuring transparency in land transactions. The first phase of the distribution was successfully completed earlier, benefiting numerous landowners in the region.

The LRC distribution process will be initiated by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) in collaboration with the Revenue and Disaster Management Department of Odisha. The project aims to cover all 51 revenue villages under the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation jurisdiction.

The LRC distribution seeks to simplify the process of obtaining land-related documents, such as copies of patta (record of land), village maps, and other pertinent information. By making these records readily accessible, it aims to eliminate middlemen and streamline administrative operations concerning land registration.

Under the second phase of LRC distribution, landowners can obtain these digital records by visiting designated Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the city. The CSCs have been equipped with necessary infrastructure and trained personnel to assist citizens with accessing and printing their land records.

In addition to facilitating land transactions, the LRC distribution process also contributes to the prevention of fraud and illegal land possessions. Digitized property records foster transparency and accountability, reducing the chances of document tampering or disputed land claims.

Bhubaneswar's proactive approach towards digitizing land records aligns with the country's broader goal of ensuring transparent and secure property transactions.
