Work on a key stretch of a 230 km greenfield expressway linking Amas in Gaya district to Darbhanga is being accelerated, with district authorities in Patna directing officials to expedite land acquisition and clear bottlenecks. The project forms part of the central government's Bharatmala Pariyojana and is designed to improve connectivity between southern and northern Bihar, passing through parts of Patna district between Ramnagar and Kacchi Dargah. The corridor is expected to support trade and freight movement.

At a meeting of the Project Monitoring Group the Patna district magistrate instructed the sub-divisional officer of Masaurhi to ensure faster progress through closer coordination among agencies and to resolve pending issues swiftly to avoid construction delays. Officials were asked to prioritise land acquisition, removal of encroachments and timely compensation to affected landowners and to hold revenue village-level camps to resolve pending cases more efficiently.

Once completed the six-lane expressway is expected to significantly cut travel time between districts including Gaya, Aurangabad, Patna, Vaishali, Samastipur and Darbhanga and to stimulate regional economic activity by improving freight corridors. Progress of projects led by agencies including the National Highways Authority of India, the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation and the state road construction department was reviewed and officials were directed to submit weekly progress reports and ensure coordination to resolve obstacles.

The district administration said inspections are being carried out regularly to monitor on-ground developments and underlined adherence to deadlines and quality standards. It noted that more than 30 state and centrally sponsored infrastructure projects are currently under way in the district and that work on other major initiatives such as the metro rail network, the Danapur-Bihta elevated corridor, the Patna-Ara-Sasaram highway and the proposed ring road is continuing with overall progress described as satisfactory.
