The Bihar government has approved a wide-ranging programme to construct police infrastructure across Nawada, Lakhisarai and Samastipur districts, with a total estimated investment of Rs 2.76 billion. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who oversees the home department, confirmed that all three projects have secured approval and construction will begin shortly. He said the initiative aims to modernise the police force and improve living conditions for personnel, ultimately strengthening policing across the state.

In Nawada, the government has sanctioned the construction of twelve single houses and six group houses within the premises of Narhat Police Station at a cost of roughly Rs 8.29 million. In Samastipur, approval has been granted for a joint building for the SC/ST and Women’s Police Stations, including furniture and supporting infrastructure, with an estimated cost of Rs 6.87 million. In Lakhisarai, plans have been cleared for a 300-bed barrack for male constables, complete with furniture and essential facilities, at an estimated cost of Rs 12.42 million.

Choudhary said technical approvals have also been secured, enabling construction to begin soon. He added that Bihar’s governance under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has enabled faster and more effective policing, noting that the police routinely identify offenders within 72 hours. He highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen the police force, including the recent transfer of 51.40 acres of land for a Constable Training School in Banka.
