BorgWarner, a global leader in clean and efficient propulsion systems, has secured a contract to supply its advanced 7-in-1 Integrated Drive Module (iDM) to a leading Chinese OEM for its upcoming hybrid SUV. The highly integrated solution is engineered to enhance overall system efficiency and performance, with mass production scheduled to begin in 2026.
“Our component and system expertise positions us ideally to develop a highly efficient and customized iDM architecture for hybrid applications,” said Dr. Stefan Demmerle, President and General Manager, BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems. “We’re proud to deliver our cutting-edge technology to such a prominent manufacturer in this key growth market.”
BorgWarner’s 7-in-1 iDM combines seven major powertrain functions into one compact, high-performance unit. It integrates:
- Two electric motors with BorgWarner’s patented high-voltage hairpin winding technology
- A dual inverter with on-board charger (OBC)
- DCDC converter and battery voltage boost
- Vehicle control unit (VCU) and power distribution unit (PDU)
- An eGear transmission
This scalable architecture delivers up to 160 kW of power, peak torque exceeding 3,400 Nm, and a maximum speed of 1,350 r/min, enabling exceptional energy efficiency and driving performance.
With extensive expertise in electrified propulsion systems, BorgWarner offers flexible, fully integrated e-mobility solutions combining in-house capabilities in e-motors, power electronics, and gearboxes. Leveraging strong technical depth, proven quality, and close collaboration with OEM partners, the company continues to advance technology innovation and support the rapid growth of China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market.
