Bridgestone India recently inaugurated a Nature Interpretation Centre at its Butterfly Garden within the Kheda Plant, strengthening its focus on biodiversity conservation and environmental awareness.

Designed as an eco-friendly mud house, the centre features three-dimensional learning models, interactive smart boards and an educational resource area with books, herbariums and training material. It will host workshops, awareness programmes and community engagement activities, serving as a hub for nature-based learning. Recently, more than 70 students from five local schools visited the facility for hands-on exposure to biodiversity and conservation practices.

The centre is located within the 1.23-acre Bridgestone Butterfly Garden, which is home to over 7,000 native plants and supports a diverse ecosystem of butterflies, birds, reptiles, mammals and pollinators. An evaluation by the Bombay Natural History Society highlighted the garden’s ecological impact, with butterfly species increasing from 44 to 68 and bird species from 40 to 46 since inception, including several first-time sightings in the Kheda region.

Together, the Butterfly Garden and the Nature Interpretation Centre reflect Bridgestone India’s approach to integrating industrial operations with ecological stewardship, reinforcing its long-term commitment to sustainable growth and community engagement.
