BVG India Limited has secured the lease-cum-operation and maintenance mandate for the Inter-State Bus Terminal at Kumedi in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

Spread across 5.85 hectares, or 14.46 acres, ISBT Kumedi has the capacity to handle more than 1,500 buses and approximately 50,000–55,000 passengers and visitors daily. The terminal will connect Madhya Pradesh with Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi and other neighbouring states.

Designed as a multimodal transport hub, the terminal integrates bus, metro and railway connectivity. A dedicated foot overbridge will connect the facility directly with the Metro Station, supporting smoother transfers between metro and bus services.

Under the long-term concession, BVG India will manage the complete operation and maintenance of the terminal through an Integrated Facility Management model. Its responsibilities will include engineering infrastructure, passenger services, utilities, commercial spaces, parking, traffic management, safety, security and digital operations.

The company will deploy mechanised housekeeping systems and preventive and predictive maintenance practices across critical infrastructure. These will cover electrical systems, HVAC, water supply, elevators, sewage treatment and other utility services.

Digital platforms will also support the terminal’s operations. The proposed systems include asset management, automated parking, digital payments, CCTV surveillance, passenger information systems, complaint management and real-time operational dashboards.

The terminal will incorporate several sustainability measures, including solar power generation, energy-efficient systems, sewage water recycling, scientific waste management, organic waste processing, water conservation and environmentally responsible landscaping.

ISBT Kumedi will also include nearly 30,000 sq ft of retail and commercial space. Shops, restaurants, food courts, offices and passenger amenities are expected to create a wider commercial ecosystem around the transport hub.

BVG India’s operating strategy is also being planned to accommodate higher passenger volumes during large public events such as Simhastha 2028. The company plans to use scalable manpower deployment, integrated crowd management and coordination with Metro and Railway authorities.

BVG India said it will use its experience across airports, healthcare facilities, industrial sites, transportation networks and urban infrastructure to establish ISBT Kumedi as a benchmark for operational efficiency, sustainability and passenger experience.
