CAQM Enforcement Task Force Reviews Inspections Across NCR
During the period the Flying Squads carried out 739 inspections, including 52 in Construction and Demolition, 680 in industry and seven for Diesel Generator sets, and reported 336 violations. Violations included 34 in construction and demolition, 229 in industry and five for DG sets. Proposed enforcement measures comprised closure directions for 21 units, sealing proposed for 53 DG sets and two show cause notices, while 63 reports remained under examination. The Task Force noted instances of gross non compliance in industrial units and stressed consistent follow up.
Special road dust inspection drives were carried out in Greater Noida on 23 January 2026 and in Gurugram on five February 2026 to assess mechanical sweeping, water sprinkling and adherence to prescribed mitigation measures. The findings were examined and agencies were advised to ensure strict compliance, particularly during peak traffic and evening hours. Emphasis was placed on strengthening on ground vigilance and timely corrective action by implementing agencies.
The Task Force reviewed cumulative enforcement data as on six February 2026 and noted that 25,975 units, projects and entities have been inspected by the Flying Squads. Based on these inspections 1,661 closure directions have been issued and 1,278 resumption orders granted after verification of compliance, while 123 cases were transferred to State Pollution Control Boards and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee and resumption orders for 260 entities remain under examination. The Commission reiterated the need for sustained enforcement and coordinated action by all agencies to ensure effective abatement of air pollution across the National Capital Region.
