CAQM Lifts Stage IV Curbs Across Delhi-NCR as Air Improves
Stage IV restrictions were earlier imposed after a sharp rise in Delhi’s average air quality index. Subsequent monitoring showed steady improvement, supported by data from the Central Pollution Control Board and meteorological assessments by the India Meteorological Department and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology. Improved wind conditions were cited as a key factor aiding dispersion of pollutants, with AQI currently in the ‘Very Poor’ category.
While Stage IV measures have been withdrawn across the NCR, actions under GRAP Stages I, II and III remain in force. Authorities have been directed to strictly implement these measures to prevent further deterioration and avoid re-imposition of higher restrictions. Construction and demolition sites closed due to statutory violations will continue to remain shut unless specific clearance is granted by the Commission.
