Castrol India Limited (Castrol India) announced upgrades to its flagship engine oils by moving key viscosities in two- and four-wheeler ranges to full synthetic formulations. The company indicated that the transition is intended to bring advanced lubricant technology to mass segments and respond to evolving mobility trends and consumer needs.

In the two-wheeler segment, Castrol India introduced Castrol Activ full synthetic viscosities 10W-30 and 5W-30 while retaining existing 20W-40 options. The company reported that the new Castrol Activ full synthetic range delivers 20 per cent improved protection across engine, clutch and gearbox components to support smoother daily commuting. This step was presented as a response to consumer insights showing younger riders prioritise ride quality, quicker pickup and reduced engine vibrations.

For personal cars, Castrol GTX 5W-30 has been upgraded to a full synthetic formulation and Castrol GTX full synthetic 0W-20 has been introduced to strengthen presence in the low-viscosity segment. The GTX full synthetic range was described as engineered for cleaner engines and better deposit control and is intended to complement existing premium full synthetic products such as Castrol MAGNATEC and Castrol EDGE. The company cited that Castrol MAGNATEC offers up to 50 per cent better wear protection and Castrol EDGE is engineered for up to 30 per cent improved on-demand performance.

The entire range will be distributed through Castrol India’s network of over 150,000 retail outlets nationwide and via online stores on Amazon and Flipkart. Castrol India was described as part of the bp group with a presence of over 115 years in India, operating three blending plants and serving automotive and industrial sectors. The company indicated that the move aims to make advanced engine care more accessible across diverse driving conditions and changing fuel needs such as E20.
