CCI Clears Mahindra Acquisition of SML Isuzu

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the proposed acquisition of SML Isuzu Limited by Mahindra & Mahindra Limited. The decision gives the green light to Mahindra's expansion in the commercial vehicle sector through this merger.

SML Isuzu manufactures and sells commercial vehicles, while Mahindra & Mahindra, a flagship company in the renowned Mahindra Group, operates across a diverse portfolio that includes automotive, farm equipment, financial services, IT, logistics, infrastructure and more. This approval allows Mahindra to integrate SML Isuzu’s operations into its existing commercial vehicle business.

The CCI noted the strategic importance of this combination but confirmed that it does not raise competition concerns that would restrict or impair market competition. A detailed order outlining the Commission’s reasoning will be released shortly.

This merger reinforces Mahindra’s position in the commercial vehicle segment, strengthening its product offerings and market reach within an industry that is vital to India’s infrastructure and logistics ecosystems.
