Centre Allocates 750 Electric Buses to Andhra Pradesh

The Union government has allocated seven hundred fifty fully air-conditioned electric buses to Andhra Pradesh under the Prime Minister-eBus Sewa scheme. The announcement was made by Rajeev Jain, Media Advisor to the Government of India, during a press interaction in Vijayawada.

These electric buses are expected to help build a cleaner and more modern public transport system across the State. Jain highlighted the Centre’s commitment to urban development in Andhra Pradesh through various centrally sponsored schemes.

Significant progress has been made on the Vijayawada Metro Rail project, which will cover thirty-eight kilometres, and the Visakhapatnam Metro initiative. Under the Smart Cities Mission, more than eighty-four per cent of projects valued at Rs 57.01 billion have been completed across Amaravati, Kakinada, Tirupati, and Visakhapatnam.

Andhra Pradesh ranks third among major States in disbursing loans under the Prime Minister Street Vendor’s AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme, achieving one hundred three per cent of its 0.33 million target.

In addition, over three and fifty thousand loans have been sanctioned under the Prime Minister Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U). Under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT and AMRUT 2.0), the Centre has released Rs 5.89 billion, with Rs 62 billion worth of urban projects approved.
