Centre Disburses Rs 4,270 Billion Under PM-KISAN Since 2019
Payments have been made across 22 instalments and the release of the 21st instalment on 19 November 2025 reached more than 9.35 crore farmers, equivalent to 93.5 million (mn) recipients. The online PM-KISAN portal includes a dedicated Farmers Corner and a Know Your Status function to allow beneficiaries to check eligibility and instalment payment details. Local Common Service Centres and India Post Payments Bank assist farmers with status checks and Aadhaar seeding.
Independent and government evaluations indicate measurable benefits for rural economies and farm households. An International Food Policy Research Institute study in 2019 found the funds supported rural growth, eased credit constraints and encouraged investment in agricultural inputs while improving farmers' risk-taking capacity. Departmental feedback from Kisan Call Centres indicates more than 93 per cent of recipients used transfers for agricultural activities. A Development Monitoring and Evaluation Office study reported that over 92 per cent of beneficiaries used the assistance for seeds, fertilisers and pesticides and around 85 per cent reported higher agricultural income and reduced reliance on informal credit.
To improve accessibility the government developed the Kisan e-Mitra voice chatbot which operates in 11 languages and is available on web and mobile platforms, and it has addressed about 9.5 million queries from some 5.3 million farmers. Regular saturation drives with states, Common Service Centres and payment banks support Aadhaar seeding and beneficiary outreach. The Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply that all beneficiaries are Aadhaar authenticated and payments are routed directly into seeded bank accounts.
