The Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal-II has not yet submitted its final decision to the Central Government on the additional Terms of Reference concerning the dispute between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over the use, distribution and control of Krishna River waters.

As the matter is currently sub judice before the Tribunal, further details do not arise. The Tribunal requested an extension of one year to submit its report and final decision, effective from 1 August 2025. In accordance with sub-section (3) of section 5 of the Inter State River Water Disputes Act, 1956, the Central Government approved this request.

Through Gazette Notification No. 3221(E), dated 10 July 2025, the deadline for submission of the Tribunal’s report and decision has been extended to 31 July 2026.
