CGTMSE Leads Global Dialogue On Credit Guarantees

The Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) organised the Global Symposium on Credit Guarantees alongside the 38th Annual Conference of the Asian Credit Supplementation Institution Confederation (ACSIC) in Mumbai as part of its Silver Jubilee celebrations. The Symposium highlighted CGTMSE's role in expanding access to collateral-free credit for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs). It presented a platform for policy dialogue and technical exchange.

The gathering drew delegates from over 19 countries and 26 organisations, including policymakers, credit guarantee institutions, financial entities and international experts. Delegates examined global cooperation, risk management and mechanisms to broaden outreach. Sessions emphasised collaboration to improve institutional capacity and interoperability.

The event was inaugurated by Manoj Mittal, Chairman of CGTMSE and Chairman and Managing Director of the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), and Manish Sinha, Chief Executive Officer of CGTMSE, delivered the welcome. Dr Rajneesh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner at the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, gave the keynote and outlined the Government's commitment to empower MSEs through reforms and policy measures. He highlighted the importance of credit guarantees for enterprises that lack collateral.

Dr Rajneesh set out efforts to improve the ease of doing business, expand financial inclusion and accelerate digital transformation across the sector. He noted that CGTMSE has catalysed large-scale collateral-free credit flow and supported underserved segments, including women entrepreneurs and first-generation enterprises. Panels featured senior officials and covered credit guarantees, institutional strengthening and sustainability. Participants shared operational insights to scale and guarantee coverage.

The first day addressed cross-border cooperation, risk management and resilience, with consensus on the need for innovation and collaboration. The Symposium was presented as a vital forum for knowledge exchange and capacity building among guarantee institutions. CGTMSE reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the credit ecosystem and promoting inclusive entrepreneurship.
