Chennai to Host ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ Camps From 15 July

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) will roll out the next phase of its flagship outreach initiative, ‘Ungaludan Stalin’, from 15 July. The programme aims to deliver civic and welfare services directly to residents across all 200 wards in the city.
According to an official release, the first set of camps will be held in six wards—Ward 25 (Madhavaram Zone), Ward 38 (Tondiarpet Zone), Ward 76 (Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar Zone), Ward 109 (Teynampet Zone), Ward 143 (Valasaravakkam Zone), and Ward 168 (Adyar Zone)—on the opening day. Camps will operate between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Personally overseen by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, the initiative is designed to enhance citizen access to public services, facilitate grievance redressal, and enable enrolment in welfare schemes. Each ward will host two such camps between 15 July and 31 October, ensuring complete citywide coverage.
Around 2,000 trained volunteers will support the effort. From Monday, they will begin distributing application forms door-to-door in selected areas, including information on the services offered, required documents, and instructions on how to access the benefits.
Residents attending the camps will benefit from immediate grievance resolution, document verification, welfare enrolment, and medical services. The Corporation has assured that all submitted applications will be processed within 45 days.
The programme will be implemented in phases, with Phase 1 covering 109 wards from 15 July to 14 August, and the remainder covered through to October.
Originally launched as a grassroots governance model, ‘Ungaludan Stalin’ has grown into a platform enabling citizens to access services such as smart ration cards, old age pensions, birth and death certificates, and property tax corrections—all in one place.
Officials note that the initiative has helped accelerate service delivery, reduce red tape, and improve trust between the public and local administration. Residents are encouraged to participate and fully utilise the services on offer.
