CII Recognises Vedanta Aluminium for Energy and Safety Excellence

India’s largest aluminium producer, Vedanta Aluminium, has received top accolades from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at the 26th National Award for Excellence in Energy Management 2025 and the CII SHE Awards 2025. The company’s Lanjigarh refinery and Jharsuguda smelter were celebrated for their outstanding performance in energy efficiency, sustainability, and workplace safety.
The Lanjigarh refinery was recognised as an Energy Efficient Unit for optimising energy usage across cooling water pumps, compressors, boilers, and digester units. These initiatives contribute to Vedanta Aluminium’s ambitious goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25 per cent by 2025 and achieving Net Zero Carbon by 2050.
Vedanta’s Jharsuguda smelter excelled in both safety and energy management, winning the CII SHE Award for Odisha with a 4-Star Rating and securing the second runner-up position in the Eastern Region. Additionally, the smelter earned national recognition at the Energy Management Awards, receiving the Excellent Energy Efficiency Unit title and the Most Useful Presentation Award in the metals sector.
