CIS Bureau (CIS) has been awarded a contract to provide security services at stations of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) Phase Two, the company confirmed. The assignment will cover station security, passenger safety measures and integrated surveillance across the Phase Two corridor. The contract follows CMRL's procurement process and aligns with broader efforts to enhance operational resilience as the system expands. Officials indicated the agreement will bring professional security management and technological solutions to the metro network.

The scope of services will include uniformed guarding, patrols, access control and monitoring through closed circuit camera systems, as well as coordination with local law enforcement and emergency response teams. CIS will also be responsible for establishing a centralised security operations centre to manage real time incidents and to analyse operational data for risk mitigation. Emphasis will be placed on passenger screening protocols, platform safety and crowd management during peak periods. The approach will combine human oversight with automated alerts to improve response times.

The contract will require CIS to implement training programmes for security personnel and to deploy technology for incident detection and reporting. Integration with existing CMRL systems will be necessary to ensure seamless communication between operations and security teams. The firm will be expected to comply with regulatory standards and to adopt procedures that prioritise passenger convenience while maintaining strict safety controls. Periodic reviews and performance reporting will form part of contractual governance.
