The Central Mine Planning and Design Institute (CMPDI), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, has installed six modern bio-toilets equipped with bio-digesters and water tanks at various locations in Ranchi. The initiative, part of the ongoing Special Campaign 5.0, reinforces CMPDI’s commitment to cleanliness, sustainability, and workplace hygiene.

The project forms a part of the nationwide effort to enhance sanitation standards and institutionalise efficiency in public offices, aligning with the Government of India’s Swachh Bharat Mission and the objectives of Special Campaign 5.0. It underscores the organisation’s broader aim to foster a culture of cleanliness, accountability, and environmental responsibility across its premises.

The newly installed bio-toilets provide accessible and hygienic sanitation facilities for contractual workers and staff, reducing health risks and improving workplace conditions. These units are designed to promote water conservation, require minimal maintenance, and effectively process waste using bio-digester technology, helping create a cleaner and safer environment.

Officials said the installation would significantly contribute to improving public health standards while supporting the government’s broader goals of sustainable sanitation and efficient resource management.

CMPDI’s initiative reflects its continued focus on blending technological innovation with environmental stewardship, ensuring that modern infrastructure contributes to a healthier and more sustainable work ecosystem.
