Covestro has expanded production of its non-intentionally added PFAS (NIA-PFAS) super-durable flexible powder coating polyester resins—Uralac Premium P 8000 and P 9000—to the Asia-Pacific region. The move supports global climate goals and stricter PFAS regulations while advancing Covestro’s “Sustainable Future” strategy and Scope 3 climate neutrality target for 2050.
Production at the upgraded Pingtung site in Taiwan will now supply the innovative coating resins locally, reducing carbon emissions from long-distance transport. The solution, already established in Europe since 2023, offers superior durability, flexibility, and sustainability compared to conventional polyester resins, extending the service life of building materials, agricultural equipment, and construction machinery.
“Our next-generation resins combine environmental responsibility with high performance,” said Tina Jin, Business Director of Powder Coating Resins Asia at Covestro. “With localised production, we are able to deliver customer-focused services, ensuring both reliability and sustainable value for our partners across Asia-Pacific.”
The Uralac Premium P 8000 and P 9000 resins replace fluorocarbon systems (PVDF/FEVE) with excellent gloss retention, mechanical strength, and weather resistance. Laboratory testing has confirmed their high durability and impact resistance, while maintaining compatibility with standard powder coating lines without additional equipment investments.
With this expansion, Covestro strengthens its role as a leader in sustainable coating technologies, advancing international sustainability trends while ensuring reliable supply to both Asia-Pacific and North America.
