The Central Scientific Instruments Organisation (CSIO) was visited by Dr N Kalaiselvi, the Director General of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). During her visit, she inaugurated four technical and infrastructural projects.

One of the projects she inaugurated was the new Central Analytics Facility of CSIO. It was mentioned that this facility would provide scientific solutions to various government departments, universities, and research and development organisations.

Additionally, the Director General laid the foundation stones for two more projects. The first one is the Micro Nano Optics Fabrication facility, which will be built at a cost of Rs 10 crore. This state-of-the-art facility aims to conduct research in cutting-edge nano technology. The second project is a 100-room hostel for research scholars.

Furthermore, she also inaugurated an information services centre that boasts centralised and upgraded infrastructure. This centre is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and is located in a centralised building. It is worth noting that CSIO has become the first campus to have 300 PNG gas connections, demonstrating its commitment to greener and more cost-effective technology. The implementation of this project is in collaboration with Indian Oil Adani Gas Private (IOAGOL).

Dr Kalaiselvi also inaugurated a composting facility that will produce sufficient compost to meet CSIO's annual demand. Moreover, a wet waste composting facility has been established to process kitchen waste from CSIO's residential colony, canteen, and guest house. Prof SA Ramakrishna, Director CSIO, and Dr Sanjiv Khosla, Director of the Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH), a sister laboratory, were present at the event as well.

Before the visit to CSIO, Dr Kalaiselvi presided over the valedictory function of CSIR's One Week – One Laboratory program at IMTECH.
