CSX Modernises Data Platform with Infosys and Microsoft
Automated metadata governance was implemented across 28 domains and more than 170 data products were created to support AI accelerators, self-serve analytics and Azure monitoring. The platform consolidated over 50,000 legacy reports into 1,200 actionable insights, delivering automation that saved thousands of hours of manual effort. The transformation established a foundation for predictive maintenance, logistics optimisation and enterprise-wide operational intelligence.
Infosys led the end-to-end effort with joint design and architecture planning alongside Microsoft and CSX, including early access to Microsoft Fabric features. The collaboration accelerated time-to-insight and enabled real-time analytics across critical business domains, producing significant annual infrastructure savings. The programme is presented as a scalable model for other transport and logistics organisations seeking to become AI-ready. The delivery included comprehensive migration, governance frameworks and operational handover to ensure sustainable adoption across the enterprise.
The initiative demonstrates how a governed data platform can empower teams to anticipate disruptions, optimise operations and elevate customer experience while improving employee productivity. It also highlights the role of cloud and AI in driving measurable business impact at scale and setting a new benchmark for innovation in the sector. Stakeholders view the modernised platform as a business-ready data foundation that supports continued optimisation and future growth. Organisational leaders expect the platform to underpin ongoing optimisation efforts and to facilitate future analytical use cases.
