Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off 400 new electric buses under the rebranded Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (DEVi) scheme, aiming to strengthen last-mile connectivity across the city.

Originally introduced in the 2023 Delhi budget by the Aam Aadmi Party as ‘Mohalla Buses’, the initiative has now been launched under the Bharatiya Janata Party’s governance with a fresh name and rollout.

“These buses are designed to offer comfortable, eco-friendly travel between metro stations and nearby areas. They will significantly improve last-mile options for Delhiites,” said CM Gupta during the launch.

The 400 DEVi buses will initially operate across east and west Delhi, covering zones like Ghazipur, Vinod Nagar East, and Nangloi. According to a DTC official, 146 routes have been mapped using commuter data to ensure maximum efficiency.

Each minibus accommodates 23 seated and 13 standing passengers, with six seats reserved for women. Fares will range from Rs 10 to Rs 25. The government plans to induct another 2,080 electric minibuses by the end of this year, taking the total to 2,480.

Rohtash Sharma, a local commuter, welcomed the move, noting that a reliable service running till midnight would greatly ease the burden of late-night travel. “Last-mile connectivity is a daily struggle, especially at night. This will help thousands,” she said.
