In a major step towards improving efficiency in pilot medical certification, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has approved the empanelment of 10 new Aeromedical Evaluation Centres across India. The move aims to streamline and expedite medical examinations for DGCA licence holders, enhancing access to timely evaluations for pilots.

The new centres will conduct DGCA Class 1, 2, and 3 medical examinations, including special and post-temporary unfit assessments as well as age-specific medicals. This marks a significant expansion beyond the eight previously empanelled centres, which were limited to Class 1 initial examinations.

The approved institutions include the Apollo Group of Hospitals at New Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Indore; Nanavati Hospitals and VM Medical Care Centre in Mumbai; Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune; and Max Multi Speciality Centre and Medanta Medicity in New Delhi.

These centres complement existing Indian Air Force Boarding Centres and are equipped with advanced medical infrastructure and specialist expertise necessary for aeromedical evaluations. All will operate under DGCA’s updated guidelines in line with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.

The initiative underscores DGCA’s commitment to supporting India’s growing aviation sector by reducing administrative delays in pilot medical certification and strengthening overall regulatory capacity. A public notice with detailed guidelines and instructions has been published on the DGCA’s official website.
