Digital Connexion To Invest USD 11 Billion In Vizag AI Data Centres

Digital Connexion — a joint venture between Brookfield, Reliance Industries and Digital Realty — has announced an investment of USD 11 billion through 2030 to build 1 gigawatt (GW) of AI-native, purpose-built data centres in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

The announcement comes just a month after Google unveiled plans to establish a world-class AI-driven data centre in Visakhapatnam, with an investment of USD 15 billion, its largest outside the United States.

Digital Connexion’s new facility will be developed over 400 acres. On 14 November, Reliance announced a fully modular, future-ready 1 GW AI data centre, designed to host advanced GPUs, TPUs and AI processors. The agreement was signed on the opening day of the CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam, in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Minister for IT and Industries Nara Lokesh, and Reliance Industries Executive Director P. M. S. Prasad.

According to the company, the upcoming centres will be engineered specifically for AI workloads, offering hyperscalers and enterprises future-ready systems, robust substations, redundant power feeds and high-density racks to support next-decade innovation. Digital Connexion aims to build India’s next-generation digital backbone through AI-native, high-performance, scalable and sustainable data centres.

The company already operates a campus in Chennai and is developing another in Chandivali, Mumbai, both positioned for low-latency, carrier-neutral connectivity. “Aligned to India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, Digital Connexion is enabling innovation, impact and sustainable growth, while positioning itself as India’s trusted digital infrastructure provider,” the company said.

Google signed its agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government on 14 October. It has also partnered with Adani Enterprises, through AdaniConneX, to develop the country’s largest AI data centre campus and new green energy infrastructure in Visakhapatnam. Google’s AI hub will feature gigawatt-scale operations supported by subsea cable networks and clean energy, delivered in collaboration with partners including AdaniConneX and Airtel.

“The flagship of our commitment is the Vizag tech park… one of the world’s largest centres in partnership with Google, a combined USD 15 billion vision for sustainable and hi-tech growth,” said Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports & SEZ, at the CII Partnership Summit.
