Manuj Singhal, an Indian Engineering Service (IES), has been named the new director (infrastructure) of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), authorities said on Wednesday. According to them, Singhal, an IES officer from the 1994 class, has over thirty years of diverse expertise in a number of important roles.

In his position as director (infrastructure), he would be in charge of maintenance of infrastructure, including civil, electrical, signal, AFC, telecom, rolling stock, solar power, etc., at the DMRC, said Anuj Dayal, principal executive director corporate communication, DMRC.

Singhal, a graduate of Delhi College of Engineering's postgraduate programme in electrical engineering, started his career with the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) before joining the Department of Telecom through IES. Dayal stated that he has been employed by the DMRC since 2006 and that, before assuming this position, he served as Executive Director (Rolling Stock Project).

He added that he has published numerous technical papers in national and international journals and conferences, and that he has been instrumental in redefining DMRC's energy mix, carrying out electrical work for the Kochi Metro Project (which includes a DC traction system), and concluding the lease-based procurement of lifts and escalators for the DMRC Phase-IV project.
