DPIIT MoU With Voltas To Boost Cooling And Smart Appliance Innovation
Work under the MoU will focus on technologies across heating, ventilation and air conditioning, advanced control systems, power electronics, artificial intelligence and machine learning based diagnostics, Internet of Things enabled smart appliances, and digitalisation in manufacturing and service operations. Attention will include energy efficient cooling systems, air quality monitoring and filtration, advanced inverter controls, predictive maintenance, refrigerant safety and digital tools for installation and servicing. The emphasis is on practical, scalable applications that can be validated in operational environments.
DPIIT, through the Startup India initiative, and Voltas will explore organising innovation challenges under the Bharat Start-up Grand Challenge and conducting hackathons on industry problem statements to surface viable solutions. The partners will identify start-ups for mentorship, technical guidance, access to testing infrastructure and support for market linkages to aid product development and commercialisation. Selected firms may be offered structured proof of concept programmes with Voltas engineering teams.
The arrangement may also facilitate field trials through Voltas service networks to support testing and refinement, and is designed to create pathways for technology integration and scale. Officials described the collaboration as consistent with broader efforts to foster advanced manufacturing and industry relevant innovation. The MoU was signed by the director of DPIIT and the managing director of Voltas in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
