Ebix Secures Rs 1.40 Bn MSRTC NCMC Contract

Ebix Technologies, a subsidiary of Eraaya Lifespaces, has secured a Rs 1.40 billion contract from Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) to implement India’s first full-scale National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) rollout for concessionary travel.
This contract aligns with the Government of India’s 'One Nation One Card' vision, aiming to integrate digital payments across multiple transport systems. Ebix previously supplied over 38,000 Android-based ticketing machines, processing nearly 220 crore tickets in MSRTC’s 16,000-bus fleet over two years.
The NCMC initiative, led by NPCI and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, enables smart, interoperable travel across modes of public transport. The programme targets over 2 crore card sales across 3,000 retail outlets in Maharashtra, starting with a minimum of 70 lakh cards in the first year.
The card supports both online and offline recharge, with Aadhaar-based verification for senior citizens and other concessional categories. The initiative is expected to process over Rs 2,000 crore in annual transactions.
Ebix noted, “This project not only simplifies travel but revolutionises digital transit experiences in Maharashtra. We are committed to smart, citizen-centric mobility.”
The project strengthens Ebix’s position in the public transport tech space and could become a model for nationwide adoption.
