EMS Bags Rs 209 Crore Sewer Projects In Varanasi

EMS has won sewer projects in Varanasi after emerging as the lowest bidder in a tender issued by Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam Urban. The combined contract value for the works is Rs 2,090 million (mn). The contracts cover construction, augmentation and rehabilitation of sewerage assets in designated urban wards of the city.

The scope of the projects will include laying and upgrading sewer lines, construction of pumping stations and related civil and mechanical works to improve the city drainage network. EMS will execute the works under the terms stipulated by the awarding authority and will be responsible for meeting technical and environmental standards specified in the contract. The procurement followed standard competitive bidding procedures and resulted in EMS submitting the lowest responsive offer.

The award strengthens EMS's order book and underlines its presence in urban infrastructure delivery in the region. Company resources will be deployed to mobilise teams, equipment and subcontractors as required to meet project timelines without compromising on quality. The projects will contribute to short term construction activity in local supply chains while enhancing long term operational capacity of the sewer network.

Financially, the Rs 2,090 mn package represents a significant contract for the firm and aligns with its focus on municipal services contracts. The company will account for the award in its contract pipeline. The contracting authority remains Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam Urban, which administers urban water and sewerage works in the state.

Stakeholders will watch execution milestones and compliance with regulatory requirements as work progresses. The projects are structured to meet specified completion benchmarks and will involve coordination with municipal agencies responsible for urban services. EMS will report progress as part of contract governance and routine regulatory filings.
