Festo Opens Bengaluru Global Capability Centre
The Bengaluru GCC is expected to create 600 jobs in engineering, software development and operations over the coming years and will focus on automation, industrial internet and smart manufacturing solutions. The centre will provide design and testing capabilities and will serve clients across Asia Pacific as well as internal manufacturing units. Festo will also deploy training modules to upskill technicians and engineers in automation technologies. It will integrate digital engineering tools and simulation platforms to speed product iterations and to reduce time to market.
The investment in a capability centre reflects Festo's view that India offers skilled talent and a growing market for automation technologies. The company will engage with educational institutions and industry associations to tailor curricula and apprenticeship programmes that address local skills gaps. This approach is intended to accelerate adoption of advanced manufacturing and to support local supply chains. The centre's programmes will be designed to link theoretical instruction with practical project work to enhance employability.
Local officials welcomed the opening and highlighted potential employment and technology transfer benefits for Bengaluru's manufacturing cluster. Festo's establishment of the centre is likely to boost the regional ecosystem for automation solutions and to encourage other global firms to expand their technical centres in India. The firm signalled a long term commitment to the market and to building capabilities that align with India's industrial growth plans.
