German drive technology specialist Flender has once again been awarded the prestigious Platinum Medal by EcoVadis, reaffirming its position among the top one per cent of the world’s most sustainable companies. The recognition marks the third consecutive time Flender has received EcoVadis’ highest rating, underscoring the company’s continued commitment to environmental, social and governance (ESG) excellence.
The achievement is particularly significant as EcoVadis has raised the threshold for Platinum recognition. In its latest assessment, Flender improved its overall score from 83 to 89 points, registering progress across all four evaluation pillars—environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. The company’s environmental score rose by four points to 91, while labour and human rights and sustainable procurement recorded notable gains of seven points each, reaching 89 points.
EcoVadis highlighted Flender’s robust policy framework and audit systems, which ensure high standards of governance, compliance and sustainability. Several on-ground initiatives contributed to the improved rating, including solvent recovery through distillation in paint shops, deployment of photovoltaic systems at sites in Voerde, Germany, and India, and measures aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions.
Flender has also strengthened its social responsibility efforts, with initiatives focused on employee well-being, inclusion and career development. These include Safety Week programmes at its Subotica plant in Serbia, Global Learning Week, action days promoting inclusion and belonging, and tailored workplace solutions such as modifying equipment to meet individual employee needs. In parallel, comprehensive compliance training and ethics campaigns reinforce business integrity across the organisation.
Commenting on the milestone, Andreas Evertz, CEO, Flender Group, said, “We are proud to have achieved platinum status again despite significantly higher requirements. As an industry, we have enormous leverage to drive global sustainability, and we intend to remain pioneers in this space.”
Kimberley ten Broeke, Head of CSR, Flender, added that the recognition reflects how deeply sustainability is embedded in the company’s culture, driven by collective effort across the organisation.
The latest rating reinforces the strength of Flender’s sustainability management system and its commitment to transparent, measurable CSR goals across the entire value chain.
