FLYTTA GREEN and Drivn have announced a joint initiative to expand heavy-duty electric truck deployment across India, focusing on industrial logistics for cement, mining and metals. The programme will concentrate on vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 55 tonne (t) and above and on establishing dedicated charging infrastructure, with exploration of solar power to support the growing electric fleet. The partners said the move forms part of a broader effort to decarbonise freight and modernise long-haul transport logistics.\n\nThe first batch of 15 trucks supplied by Montra Electric was delivered last week and a further 45 trucks are expected to arrive during August and September. The companies have recorded expressions of interest for around 1,000 heavy-duty electric trucks, which are expected to be deployed over the next 18 months across the cement, mining and metals sectors. Drivn will work on vehicle deployment and fleet services while FLYTTA GREEN will coordinate industrial customer adoption and logistics integration.\n\nThe initiative is being led by Ashwin Dichpally, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of FLYTTA GREEN, and combines operational expertise from both partners. The plan is to put 200 trucks into service during the current financial year, with financing for remaining commitments expected to come from international investors. Primary deployment corridors will target the North-East, East and South-East regions to address regional logistics needs and industrial demand.\n\nFLYTTA GREEN and Drivn intend the programme to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in heavy-duty logistics and help industrial customers lower transport-related emissions and meet corporate sustainability targets. The partners will pilot charging solutions and evaluate solar integration to reduce grid dependency and operating costs. Continued procurement and staged deployment are expected to inform scaling decisions through the next phases of the programme.
